Kenosha’s Lennie Boresch Jr. gave it a valiant
run, but was eliminated from match play
Friday at the United States Bowling Congress
Masters tournament at the National Bowling
Stadium in Reno, Nev. Boresch, the 52nd seed
after qualifying, won his first two matches Thurs-
day, but lost to PBA Tour standout Chris Barnes
661-639 in the third round. Boresch then
dropped to the losers’ bracket, where he lost to
Erik Vermilyea of Mansfield, Texas 659-590.
Barnes, the No. 4 seed, won two more matches
to reach the match play final against Walter Ray
